The current technical device is composed of 6 satellites and 22 transponders and allows simultaneous broadcasting on Ku-band (that is to say with small diameter parabolas) with more than 300 channels in the four corners of the world. CANAL OVERSEAS negotiates satellite rental from operators and ensures the transport of channels. It provides and moves the technical equipment (parabola, digital terminal...) and takes care of the logistics. CANAL OVERSEAS also broadcasts its bundles via other means of access such as ADSL and DVBH. Finally, the interactive services are specifically developed for subscribers.
BROADCASTING
CANAL+
The CANAL+ channels intended for overseas and Africa are edited near Paris in Saint Cloud. The control room has been fully re-fitted for broadcasting in High Definition and has unique and specific technologies.
Programme schedules are prepared and adapted according to the time zones in each area for convenient consumption in local time and compliant with the rules of the CSA while reserving the need for sporting events and information to be live.
These channels, like their HD versions, are then sent by fibre optic cables to the Digital Broadcasting Centre in Boulogne.
CANALSAT
The CANALSAT channels destined for overseas and Africa are broadcast live, at D+1 or delayed for a few hours according to their theme and the time delay for each zone from the Digital Broadcasting Centre. Special equipment such as delay servers are dedicated to the CANAL OVERSEAS packages.
All the channels are multiplexed and compressed before being shown on the different satellites covering each area.
Satellite transport may be very complex to channel the programmes in certain areas such as the Pacific.
A double bond satellite is needed.
CYFRA+
All the channels from the CYFRA+ package in Poland are edited and broadcast on the satellite HotBird 1 from Poland.
In Poland, all the production and broadcasting channels are equipped with HD. CYFRA+ even has the only state owned HD in the country. CYFRA+ is also available on ADSL.
